A trailer and a teaser have been released to stimulate the arrival for Season 2 of Dr. Stone.

The series has published 155 chapters as of June 2020 and has been running ever since March 2017 in Weekly Shonen Jump. Despite a delay due to COVID-19, the production of Dr. Stone Season 2 was given the green light.

Dr. Stone was written and illustrated by Riichiro Inagaki and Boichi respectively. The Weekly Shonen Jump was the publisher of the manga series and together with its individual chapters that were collected and published by Shueisha into 13 Tankobon volumes as of November 2019.

The adventure, sci-fi, shonen anime centers in a post-apocalyptic world where a 16-year old genius named Senku Ishigami is revived into a world where all human life ceased to exist. Before the story began, a mysterious light flashed and petrified (turned to stone) nearly all human life with only six astronauts being unaffected since they were in space during that time.

Senku begins to study about the petrified humans in order to figure out the cause as well as the cure with the goal of rebuilding civilizations with science as its core. He begins to revive his friends one by one and Tsukasa Shishio, a martial artist, refused to adhere to Senku’s ideal world where science is key. Consequently, Tsukasa believes in a world worth reviving where power should prosper in order to create a civilization.

With Season 2 to air on January 2021, fans are more than excited to see where the story has taken off with Senku to battle Tsukasa in the Stones battle arc story.

Three new upcoming characters are set to be introduced in the Dr. Stone universe in this new season – Saionji Ukyo, Hanada Nikki, and Uei Yo.
